Hello, I'm Runninghaeyoung, a fitness enthusiast.
Those of you with hallux valgus (bunions)...
will likely experience discomfort inside athletic shoes and running shoes. Briefly, hallux valgus is a condition where the big toe bends outward. The causes are complex and can be both congenital and acquired.
Surgery may be recommended if the pain is severe enough to make walking difficult, but otherwise, rehabilitation therapy is usually advised.
Along with rehabilitation therapy, I recommend shoes with a wide toe box.
When walking or running, untaped parts of the toe can be secured with taping.
1-minute self-taping for hallux valgus.
Materials: Foot with hallux valgus, 3-inch tape (1 piece), 1.5-inch tape (1 piece)
Cutting them in half will give you a total of four pieces.
1. With the big toe spread, apply the 1.5-inch tape starting from the middle of the big toenail, applying 70-80% tension.
Apply a total of two pieces for reinforcement.
Apply the 3-inch tape in an X shape, wrapping around the toe.
Reinforce by applying another piece.
