This is a review of my stay at the Olympic Parktel, a great hotel for running in Olympic Park. I initially wanted to stay at a better hotel, but due to frequent events and issues, I chose the Olympic Parktel instead. It has definite pros and cons, but its value for money was the best.
Olympic Park is considered one of the best places for running in Seoul. The spacious and pleasant courses, diverse scenery, and a suitable mix of ups and downs provide an optimal environment for runners like us. It's also great for walking.
Parking was available for the duration of our stay. We brought two cars, and both were parked for free. The room condition was average. It had been newly remodeled, but we didn't have high expectations, and the view, depending on the room's location, offered a somewhat obscured view of the Lotte Tower. ㅎㅎㅎ
Toothbrushes and toothpaste were not provided, but body wash, shampoo (and conditioner), body lotion, and a comb were available. Three bottles of water were provided per day.
Olympic Parktel Pros:Optimal Location: Conveniently connected to Olympic Park. Clean Rooms: Recently remodeled with clean interiors (but don't expect too much). Reasonable Price: A good value option among hotels in Seoul (approximately 300,000 won for three people including breakfast on weekdays). Breakfast Provided: Enjoy a healthy breakfast after your run.Cons: Poor Soundproofing... While the hotel itself is quiet, this could be a drawback for those sensitive to noise.
This Olympic Parktel review is being written to accompany my 90-minute easy run. This week's goals are a 90-minute easy run, an 80-minute build-up run, and a 30km run (if I can manage it...)
I completed a 90-minute easy run in Olympic Park, conversational pace. The hotel's proximity was incredibly convenient, especially in winter when getting cold after sweating is a concern. I stretched inside the Olympic Parktel, then ran directly to the park from the connected parking lot. Being able to shower immediately afterward was great.
I believe Olympic Park is the perfect place to enjoy running. You can enjoy diverse scenery along the running course, and the distances are well-suited for all levels, from beginners to long-distance runners. #SamsungHealth
Recommended Running Courses: One lap (approx. 5km): Suitable for beginners or those who want a light jog. Two laps (approx. 10km): Recommended for runners who want long-distance training. 14km or more: The Mongchontoseong course in Olympic Park, in particular, has a suitable mix of ups and downs, making it ideal for marathon training. If you run in the evening, you can run alongside the night view of Pyeongwha Gate or Olympic Park for a more special experience.
Would I recommend the Olympic Parktel to runners? In conclusion, I would highly recommend the Olympic Parktel to those who consider running and accommodation together. While it doesn't have its own gym, its proximity to Olympic Park and the ability to relax comfortably after a run make it a very attractive choice.
