Hello, I'm Runninghaeyoung, a woman who loves exercise. While I'm fine with shorter runs of 5-10km, I start to experience discomfort in my feet during long-distance running.
I have high arches, and during long runs, I experienced pain in the instep, which progressively worsened.
This led me to search for insoles that would correct my foot arches. While researching various products, I discovered Sidas, a premium insole brand from France. I visited their store on the 4th floor of The Hyundai Department Store in Yeouido, where I was greeted by the autographs of famous athletes.

Why do you need insoles?
Generally, insoles are needed to correct body alignment and reduce foot fatigue. However, the purpose of the insole varies depending on the individual's needs.
My goal was to improve performance and prevent injuries during long-distance running. For people with high arches like me, the entire sole of the foot doesn't contact the ground, leading to uneven weight distribution and strain on the instep, ankles, and even knees.
I was also worried about potential injuries, so
I looked into Sidas insoles, hoping that a good insole would support my foot structure, allowing me to enjoy running without pain.
Why I chose Sidas?

I chose the Sidas brand primarily because it offers custom-fit insoles tailored to individual foot structures. Sidas is a premium insole brand manufactured in France, offering products precisely custom-made to fit foot shape and pressure distribution for both everyday use and performance. For someone with high arches like me, an insole that absorbs shock and provides stability according to the curve of the foot was essential, making customization ideal.
Sidas insoles, in particular, help maintain a stable center of balance during running, assisting with shock absorption and ultimately reducing the strain on the feet even during longer runs.
Sidas meticulously analyzes foot pressure and shape to create the most accurate insole possible.
The process involves directly scanning the foot pressure and shape, determining the type of insole needed based on individual needs, and then
using this data to manufacture the insoles.
In my case, my high arches mean my left foot has weight shifted forward, making the ball of my foot appear wider, while my right foot shows a crushing pattern, indicative of bunions.
My left foot has a more complete shape. Because my right foot is constantly pushed outward, I need an insole for eversion...otherwise, anything from half-size up hurts...^^;;
After assessing my feet in a static position and measuring my size (I'm a size 237, although I wear sizes 245 and 250),
they recommended a high-arch type model to prevent pes cavus and overpronation. It's amazing to see how well the insole is customized to fit my feet.
Custom Insole Creation at a Specialized Store
Don't you think the process of creating a custom insole at a specialized store is vastly different from buying a product off the shelf?
There are far more people with flat feet than those with pes cavus or high arches, making it difficult for people like me with high arches to find suitable off-the-shelf products.
The creation process begins by analyzing the foot shape and then creating a mold based on the foot shape while the customer is seated.
As the developers of the world's first heat-moldable insoles, they provide optimal insoles
customized to the individual. The posture, aligned with the hip and knee joints, ensures the creation of an accurate foot mold.
Based on this data, they create an insole that perfectly fits my foot,
adjusting the size to match the (frequently worn) shoes I brought.
Even looking back, my pes cavus is quite noticeable; it looks almost like I'm flying! (?)
While they were taking the mold of my feet, I examined the materials and arch shapes.
I think it took about 5-10 minutes.
Changes Before and After Using Insoles
Before using the insoles, the pain in my instep was bad, but the strain on my feet also extended to my ankles and knees, causing frequent pain during long-distance runs. The high arches prevented my entire foot from making proper contact with the ground, and analyzing my running posture revealed significant instability.
However, after using the Sidas insoles,
the contact area between my foot and the ground increased, and the insoles provided support, making my runs significantly more stable.
With my foot's center of balance secured, my feet were no longer excessively fatigued, and the strain on my knees and ankles decreased, significantly improving the instep pain.
I chose Sidas insoles to alleviate foot discomfort during long-distance running, and the results exceeded my expectations.
The custom-fit insoles provided stable support for my high arches, correcting my body alignment and allowing me to run comfortably for longer periods.
Experiencing the precisely crafted Sidas insoles made me realize how crucial the balance of the feet and body is during running.
They currently operate eight stores in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, located in department stores and large shopping malls, and plan to expand nationwide.
There are also stores in Ilwon, Songdo, and Namyangju that sell specialized athletic shoes from brands like Hoka and Asics, and the Yeouido store I visited also sells Mizuno athletic shoes.
