Seoul Marathon Dong-A Marathon 42195 Full Course Running Completion Review (Including Video)
I'll tell you the details of the Seoul Marathon.
As I've been doing YouTube, I've inevitably
had to capture it in detail.
Hello, #Running Creator
#Running Hayoung here. On Sunday, March 17, 2024
I challenged the full course of one of the three major marathons in Korea,
#Dong-A Marathon #Seoul Marathon.
42.195km
This was my 6th attempt at a full marathon,
and now I've moved beyond just completing it to aiming for a SUB4 record.
So I focused on long-distance, LSD training
to prepare for the full course.

For the completion commemorative gifts, I could choose between a jacket and a regular long-sleeved shirt,
but I chose the long-sleeved shirt because I already have the 2022 jacket.
Last year, I was in Group C, but this year I'm in Group B.
Last year was C group, this year is B
Seoul Marathon 42.195km
I woke up around 4:30 am
and warmed up some porridge to eat.
I took the first subway train,
and it was packed with people.
When I arrived at Gwanghwamun Station, about 90% of the people
got off, I think. hahahahaha
Since it was a large event,
there were so many people...
It was cramped even for practicing and stretching.
But I guess everyone was in the same boat.
Starting with the elite athletes, then Masters,
Hall of Fame ~ Group A, and then Group B
started the race.
Since I was filming the video while running,
I was able to capture everything, starting from Deoksugung
and running towards DDP and then back.
And then there were water stations,
which were the controversial plastic water stations.
(Paper cups were for sports drinks)
I guess they are recyclable, right...?
It was a windy day,
so plastic cups were scattered everywhere,
people stepped on them, and some people said their ankles were twisted because of them.
It was hard to pick up the plastic and hard to throw them away,
so I didn't drink any water
and just drank the Pocari Sweat
in the paper cups.
After running six full marathons, I realized
that everyone has their own goals and they are
silently practicing and running towards them.
They say marathons are an honest sport,
and you really get out what you put in.
I cried when I finished my first marathon,
but this time, I was able to finish with a smile.
When you run a full marathon,
it's relatively easy to get to about 21km.
(If not, it means you're not in good shape!)
But around 30km, your legs start to feel heavy.
My breathing was okay, but I started to feel
the limits of my leg muscles.
My cadence dropped significantly, and I tried to keep my legs moving as fast as I could.
Starting at 35km, there were some slight inclines.
I thought about walking, thinking I could still get a sub4 if I walked,
but I fought with my mental strength and went crazy.
Get your mental game together!!!
Thankfully, I didn't walk at all hahahahaha
From Jamsil Bridge onwards, it's called the hell of Jamsil Bridge,
where your mental and physical strength gets drained.
I just wanted to rest,
but there were so many people cheering me on...
I always feel that the power of encouragement is amazing when running a full marathon.
I always feel that the power of encouragement is amazing when I run a full marathon.
And so, I finished.
I hit my limits many times,
but the fun of running through the city,
the joy of pursuing my own goals,
all of these things combined make me keep challenging myself.
You can find more details on my #Running Hayoung YouTube channel!
Let's watch it together in a vivid video.
